Specializations
Dr. Marinaccio brings over 25 years of experience to her naturopathic practice. She uses lab tests to aid in her diagnosis of conditions. Using nutritional therapy such as vitamins, mineral and herbal medicines and dietary counseling, she helps the patient to make the connections between their symptoms and lifestyle choices. One size does not fit all. Dr. Marinaccio believes that the most effective health plan is made with a collaboration between doctor and patient.
Over the last 2 years, Dr. Marinaccio has developed an interest in 2 additional areas; the natural treatment of mood disorders and the use of low level laser therapy to enhance healing of localized conditions.
She has noticed a strong correlation between how a person feels mentally and emotionally and how they heal from physical conditions. She has learned how to evaluate neurotransmitter deficiencies such as low seratonin and others and has nutritional protocols for normalizing these “feel good” brain chemicals. This is helpful for those with struggling with ongoing or seasonal depression, anxiety disorders, insomnia, and the cravings of addictions.
The low level laser therapy is a therapy used to speed healing of inflamed tissue, joints, and skin. Laser light heals by re-energizing injured cell membranes. This enhances the movement of waste products out of the cell and nutrients into the cell. Laser therapy is useful for inflamed joints, back pain, tense muscles, plantar fascitis, varicose veins, leg ulcers, and acne.
Dr. Marinaccio is a past president of the Association of Naturopathic Physicians of B.C. for the year 1995-1996 (now the College of Naturopathic Physicians of B.C.) She has received numerous awards for over 15 years of service with this organization. She is also a member of the British Columbia Naturopathic Association and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.
