Dr. de Melo is a graduate of The University of Toronto and The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. 
 
Jaime's practice is a general family practice with special interest in Respiratory, Musculoskeletal and Digestive Health.  Following a comprehensive assessment Dr. de Melo works with his patients to identify the key factors that are affecting all areas of their health.    Treatments focus on alleviating causative factors and may involve one or more of the Naturopathic modalities:
  • Clinical Nutrition and Supplementation
  • Botanical Medicine 
  • Homeopathy
  • Physical Medicine
  • Counseling
 Treatment always involves education and motivation.
 
Education is a large part of Jaime’s practice as he enjoys teaching patients about their health and treatments. His love for education has lead him to currently hold faculty positions at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, both in Victoria.
His published research is in the area of botanical medicine with a focus on safety and efficacy. 
 
Jaime holds professional memberships with the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the British Columbia Naturopathic Association and the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia.

ND:   Naturopathic Doctor (in BC, in order to practice as an ND, the doctor must have completed at least 3-years pre-medical training-most doctors complete a bachelor's degree, 4-years full-time medical training at an accredited naturopathic medical college, and the completion of provincial board exams prior to being granted licencure. NDs in BC are licenced and regulated by the College of Naturopathic Physicians.)
DC:   Doctor of Chiropractic. Indicates this naturopathic doctor previously achieved a recognized degree to practice as a chiropractor.
DHANP:   Diplomate in the Homeopathic Association of Naturopathic Physicians. An additional degree focused on classical homeopathy.
MSAOM:   Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. An additional degree focused on Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM.
RM:   Registered Midwife. Indicates that this naturopathic doctor holds a valid licence as a midwife in BC.
