Dr Jennifer Matthews is both a naturopathic physician and a trained midwife with the natural family medicine practice Full Circle Healing Arts. While she provides care for the whole family, Dr Matthews specializes in prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric naturopathic care. Therapies used include botanical medicines, homeopathy, nutritional supplements, counselling, craniosacral therapy, hydrotherapy, and physical medicine.
Dr Matthews’ offers a variety of care for pregnant women and those wanting to become pregnant. She provides a personalized wholistic approach to preconception health and fertility issues. She also provides prenatal and postpartum packages that include informed choice discussions at specific points of care, unlimited personalized visits, 24-hour pager service and home visits in the first 2 weeks postpartum. A sample of pregnancy and postpartum related issues include anemia, nausea, constipation, backache, heartburn, gestational diabetes, breastfeeding issues and infections. Dr Matthews will also be teaching both preconception health and prenatal classes.
Dr Matthews also offers naturopathic pediatric care including well child check ups and acute concerns such as colic, teething, ear infections, coughs and colds. She is particularly interested in allergies and related symptoms including asthma, eczema/psoriasis, sinusitis, anaphylaxis, and multiple chemical sensitivity. Dr Matthews is also experienced in treating ADHD/ADD and presents an immunization information lecture at various times during the year.
Dr Jennifer Matthews graduated from Bastyr University with both a doctorate of Naturopathic medicine and a certificate of Midwifery. She is also certified in craniosacral therapy. Her clinical training includes the Bastyr Center for Natural Health, Emerald City Clinic, Seattle Naturopathy, Acupuncture, and Birth Center in Seattle , WA and Port Villa Hospital in Vanuatu.
Dr Matthews will be adding midwifery care to her clinic in fall 2007. Being a new mother, she has chosen to postpone this part of her services to care for her young child.
