Dr. Kabani at Plateau Medical Clinic
Westwood Plateau, Coquitlam
Since first being diagnosed with Beta–thalasesemia major at age 3, Dr. Kabani, N.D., has taken a health-centric approach to her life. Dr. Kabani believes passionately in a holistic and complementary approach towards health, working collaboratively with medical doctors for optimal health of an individual. After all, she is alive today because of mainstream medicine, but is living today because of naturopathic medicine.
Dr. Aliya Kabani, ND, or as her patients like to call her, “Dr. Aliya”, has built on her innate nature of being not only, a very committed and compassionate human being, but at the same time, an empathetic and supportive doctor who takes the time to assess and diagnose an individual holistically. She is not only a doctor of naturopathic medicine, but has also been a patient of naturopathic care since 2001 and a patient of mainstream medicine since the age of 3.
Dr. Aliya Kabani brings an extensive knowledge base to her practice of Naturopathic Medicine. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of British Columbia, majoring in Speech Sciences and minoring in Psychology. During her time at UBC, she took the Applied Behavioral Analysis training program, and provided this therapy to children with autism. Dr. Kabani then went on further and took various other courses to expand her interests. She then discovered Naturopathic medicine and completed her training at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. Dr. Kabani is also board certified in acupuncture.
With experience in her own life and a general interest in family health care, Dr. Kabani holds a special focus on anemias, blood disorders, and pediatrics. Dr. Kabani has had amazing opportunities to speak about her experience using naturopathic therapies with chronic blood disorders. She has been a guest speaker at a Sickle Cell Anemia focus group at the Toronto General Hospital, a guest speaker discussing Beta-thalassamia major at the grand rounds held quarterly at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, and has led 2 breakout sessions at the 5th annual National Anemia conference held at the Novotel Hotel in downtown Toronto in 2005. Dr. Kabani strives to perform more research with naturopathic modalities and chronic anemias.
Dr. Kabani is a licensed naturopathic doctor in BC (CNPBC) and has memberships with the BCNA (British Columbia's Naturopathic Association) and CAND (Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors). She is also a member-at-large of the Vancouver Thalassemia Society. In addition to this, she likes to donate her time to various communities.
Dr. Kabani is also a clinical supervisor at Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.
