Dr. Alison Assmus is a Naturopathic Physician with a general family practice, treating patients of all ages and diseases.  She has a special interest in women’s health, children’s health, gastrointestinal disorders, and skin conditions. 

 

Dr. Assmus sees all patients as individuals and develops specific treatment plans accordingly, using nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, lifestyle counselling, and physical therapies.  She believes in not only relieving symptoms, but also in finding the cause of disease and imbalance using state of the art laboratory testing, physical examination, and  comprehensive medical history. 

 

Dr. Assmus received a BSc in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology at Thompson Rivers University, and then proceeded to medical school at Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.  She has also obtained board certification in acupuncture and intravenous therapies. Dr. Assmus is committed to providing the highest quality care for her patients and continues to develop her knowledge by regularly attending conferences and seminars in her field.

 

Dr. Assmus grew up in the small town of Logan Lake, outside of Kamloops, and is very pleased to now be practicing in the Kamloops region!

ND:   Naturopathic Doctor (in BC, in order to practice as an ND, the doctor must have completed at least 3-years pre-medical training-most doctors complete a bachelor's degree, 4-years full-time medical training at an accredited naturopathic medical college, and the completion of provincial board exams prior to being granted licencure. NDs in BC are licenced and regulated by the College of Naturopathic Physicians.)
DC:   Doctor of Chiropractic. Indicates this naturopathic doctor previously achieved a recognized degree to practice as a chiropractor.
DHANP:   Diplomate in the Homeopathic Association of Naturopathic Physicians. An additional degree focused on classical homeopathy.
MSAOM:   Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. An additional degree focused on Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM.
RM:   Registered Midwife. Indicates that this naturopathic doctor holds a valid licence as a midwife in BC.
