Dr Gammage is both a trained chiropractor and naturopathic doctor. She graduated with honors from Palmer Colleges of Chiropractic West in 1995 and Bastyr University (Naturopathic medical school) in 1998. Peace Clinic of Naturopathic Medicine was established in 1998 which was the first naturopathic clinic in the region. This busy practice has grown over the years into a multidisciplinary center which included other practitioners such as D.C.s, M.D’s and registered massage therapists (RMT’s). The combination of different professionals allows for a range of additional services such as hormone, cortisol and allergy testing, acupuncture, laser therapy (ie for injured tissue repair), bone density testing, therapeutic and lymphatic drainage massage, insulin resistance screening, Botox, body composition testing and dietary counseling.
Because of her training as a Chiropractor, Dr Gammage is also able to address her patient’s musculoskeletal complaints. Even though she is proficient in the traditional Chiropractic techniques of adjusting, Dr Gammage has developed an eclectic treatment style, utilizing lower force techniques. She will incorporate the more traditional chiropractic adjustments, depending on patient preference and clinical indications. She is known for her gentle but very effective treatment methods. She was honored by being invited to the Central American and Caribbean Games to be a part the chiropractic team. The gold medaling Mexico Men’s Water Polo Team was amongst the athletes she provided care for.
Dr Gammage also practices traditional acupuncture, with additional training in neurofunctional acupuncture as well as facial rejuvenation.
She has a general family practice with patients ranging from newborns to the elderly. As a result of practicing in a relatively remote area of BC, she sees a wide range of condition. She particularly enjoys working with patients in regards to healthy aging, investigating and addressing the intricate relationship between the various hormones and addressing the commonly overlooked presence of food sensitivities and gut health. A healthy mind and body starts from the inside out and fundamental to this process is a strong foundation to build upon. In addition to hormone optimization, this involves ensuring healthy digestive system and liver function in particular.
Dr Gammage has incorporated neuromodulator treatments (ie Botox) into her repertoire. A neuromodulator is a purified, natural protein that works by blocking the message being transmitted from the nerve to the muscle. As a result it relaxes wrinkle-causing muscle contractions creating a smoother, relaxed look. A healthy diet and digestive system, detoxification, regular exercise, good hydration and hormonal balance all play a role in feeling and looking younger. Botox is just one other tool available to help an individual slow down the effects of time on their skin; helping them look as young as they feel.
I prefer the term “healthy aging” over “antiaging” since aging is a natural process. Ageing is NOT synonymous with “old”; the goal is to age with vitality, grace and quality of life.
