Dr. Gareau completed her four-year doctorate at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, following her undergraduate training in Psychology and Nutrition at the University of British Columbia.
She has an extensive background in clinical nutrition and musculoskeletal injuries. Her specialties include sports nutrition and injury prevention, acute/chronic pain management, hormone and digestive imbalances, women's health and environmental/heavy metal toxicities.
Having also worked over 15 years as a certified dental assistant (in Whistler, Prince George and Vancouver), Dr. Gareau recognizes the importance of oral health and it’s affects on the body, which helps in gathering unique information to make health assessments and develop individual treatment plans accordingly.
During her clinical internship, Dr. Gareau completed a placement at Sherbourne Health Clinic in downtown Toronto, a clinic, which focuses on the well-being and health challenges of people living with HIV/AIDS.
She participated in and helped coordinate "Be Your Best Self.” A program designed to educate and promote quality nutrition and healthy lifestyle options to individuals with current health concerns such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and weight management.
During her “down time” she helped develop the Vancouver Freestyle Ski Team, coaching provincial level athletes as well as beginner leagues for young mogul skiers in the lower mainland. In the past, Dr. Gareau skied competitively in North America as a member of the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team.
Her competitive experience and passion for the outdoors has allowed her to understand the importance of proper nutrition and optimal health in order to perform “your” best.
