A discussion of an often overlooked topic: constipation. This session will focus on practical, evidence-informed pharmacologic prevention and management of functional and opiate-inducted constipation in adults and elders.
Objectives: by the end of this session, participants should be able to:
1.Recognize medications that commonly cause constipation and confidently de-prescribe these
2.Consider preventative bowel care in all patients receiving opiates
3.Appreciate the modalities of bowel care and feel confident employing medications to treat constipation according to best available evidence
